PCA Seeking Conference Volunteers and Nominees for President-Elect

Invitation to Serve on the Conference Committee
PCA 50th anniversary Fall Conference

Dear PCA Members,

It is that time of year again that we launch into preparations for our annual fall conference. This year's conference is a very special one, as we celebrate our 50th anniversary in Pittsburgh.

I am asking for dedicated and creative leaders to step forward to serve as conference chairs for this historic event, and hope that you will choose to apply your considerable talents and passion for our profession to work to make this a successful and memorable event.

Please email me at drlindathompson@gmail.com and let me know how you want to serve. There are many opportunities such as conference co-chairs, coordinator of proposals, proposal reviewers, exhibitor and advertising coordinators, and event coordinators. We are also looking for suggestions for a theme for our golden anniversary, and welcome your ideas.

We are having a board meeting on March 10 via ZOOM and would welcome anyone desiring to be a part of the conference committee to attend to discuss further. I will forward the details of the meeting if you email me your interest. Thank you for all of your support of PCA.

Linda Thompson, PCA President

Call for Nominations

We are searching for a new President-Elect this year! Nominations are open and will remain open until March 16th

There is arguably no position within our organization more crucial, particularly as we continue the push for advocacy on behalf of LPCs in Harrisburg. It's a lot of work, but it's also a lot of fun, incredibly rewarding, and a fantastic professional development opportunity.

Here are the details of the position as outlined in our bylaws:

The President-Elect shall perform the duties of the President in the absence or incapacity of the President as determined by the PCA Executive Council. The President-Elect shall be a delegate to the North Atlantic Counseling Association Chapter of the American Counseling Association; assist the Treasurer in the selection of an accountant for the annual audit; and serve as liaison to all Divisions, Chapters, and Special Interest Groups.

After one year in this role, the President-Elect will move into the role of President:

The President shall preside at all meetings of the Association and the PCA Executive Council; consider all motions regularly made; and call special meetings. The President shall appoint all committee chairpersons, including standing committee chairpersons and all committee members, subject to confirmation by the PCA Executive Council. The President shall be an ex officio member without vote on all Association Committees and a delegate to the North Atlantic Counseling Association Chapter of the American Counseling Association. The President shall perform the duties customary to that office and such additional duties as directed by the PCA Executive Council.

If you would like to nominate yourself or if you have someone in mind for the position, please send an email with the subject line "PCA PRESIDENT NOMINATION" to jacobch@upenn.edu. I would also be more than happy to answer any questions you might have about the position or about PCA in general.

Hope all is well,

Charles Jacob, Ph.D., PCA Past President
