Congratulations to all Professional Counselors in Pennsylvania – Senate Bill 530 is on its way to becoming law!
Due to the tireless professional advocacy work of the entire membership of the Pennsylvania Counseling Association, its Executive Board, and our Government Relations Committee, Senate Bill 530 has passed the House and is on its way to the governor's office to be signed into law. This practice protection act, (1) regulates that any professional counselor practicing independently in Pennsylvania must be a current LPC, (2) adds “diagnosis" to our scope of practice, and (3) provides our clients with the same level of protection as other licensed helping professions in Pennsylvania. This is a great day for professional counselors in Pennsylvania and the clients we serve.
