PCA Statement in Recent Events

The Pennsylvania Counseling Association is deeply saddened and angered by the events of the past few weeks. We are heartbroken by the tragedies in Texas, New York, and California and mourn for the families of the victims of senseless gun violence.

We recognize that many in our counseling community are affected by current events, PCA stands with counselors across the country standing for social justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion. These tragic shootings affirm the importance of staying vigilant in our commitment to social justice and advocacy, to promoting systemic change, and to firmly condemning acts of racism and violence.

PCA, supports the American Counseling Association, calling on counselors to support the Background Check Expansion Act which would help to increase common sense gun reform in the United States. Please see their statements regarding the tragedy at Robb Elementary School in Ulvade, Texas and on the Background Check Expansion Act.
