Call for Executive Leadership Roles in PASGW

The Pennsylvania Association for Specialists in Group Work (PASGW) is pleased to announce that it is currently seeking two candidates to fill Executive Board roles for the upcoming term! If you are interested in group work, want to connect with other groupies across the state, and are looking to get more involved in professional service, now’s your chance! Please see below descriptions of our currently available positions and instructions for applying. Candidates will be reviewed beginning on June 15, 2021 and notified of election results by June 22, 2021. The service term for the new Executive Board will begin on July 1, 2021.

Position 1: Secretary/Treasurer (Term Length: 2 Years – July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2023)

Position Description:

Eligible applicants for PASGW Secretary-Treasurer will be presently enrolled in a Counseling/Counselor Education and Supervision program within the state of Pennsylvania and will be (or become) an active member of our parent organization, the Pennsylvania Counseling Association, as well as of PASGW. The Secretary-Treasurer shall keep record of all current activities of PASGW and of the Executive Committee and shall perform duties as assigned by the President. The Secretary-Treasurer shall assume responsibility as Chair of the Membership Committee and shall be granted the opportunity to succeed to the office of President-Elect at the expiration of their term. The Secretary-Treasurer shall have custody of all funds and other properties belonging to PASGW and shall deposit all funds into the Association bank account at the direction of the Executive Committee. The Secretary-Treasurer shall have the authority to sign checks and drafts on behalf of the Association for the disbursement of funds for duly authorized purposes. The Executive Committee shall from time to time prescribe methods and procedures for authorizing the expenditures of and the accounting for such funds.

Position 2: Graduate Student Representative (Term Length: 1 Year – July 1, 2021 to June 30, 2022)

Position Description:

Eligible applicants for PASGW Graduate Student Representative (GSR) will be presently enrolled in either a master’s in Clinical Mental Health or School Counseling program or a doctoral program in Counselor Education and Supervision within the state of Pennsylvania and will be (or become) an active member of our parent organization, the Pennsylvania Counseling Association, as well as of PASGW. Duties of the GSR position will include, but are not limited to the following: developing and sending out a quarterly division newsletter, engaging in correspondence with current PASGW members, helping to coordinate and support outreach to and recruitment of new PASGW members (particularly other graduate students), participating in research opportunities as available, sitting on PCA committees as appointed, co-facilitating PASGW’s virtual graduate student support group, and attending PASGW Executive Board meetings as a non-voting member. GSRs who complete a full year of service will be subsequently eligible for election to board leadership positions as available and at the discretion of voting members.

  1. A 250-word statement describing your goals and personal/professional experiences as they relate to the identified position,
  2. Your most current curriculum vitae/resume
  3. Proof of PCA & PASGW membership (or a statement indicating your willlingness to join these organizations upon Executive Board appointment)
