There is a preponderance of evidence that childhood poverty is associated with several mental health disorders later
in life including post-traumatic stress disorder, major depressive disorder, and anxiety disorders. In this study, we
employed a single-case research design to investigate the impact of Child-Centered Play Therapy (CCPT) on
preschool children who have experienced multigenerational poverty and are trauma-affected. Participants
demonstrated improvement in interpersonal skills and exhibited fewer behavior and attention problems.
Implications, limitations, and recommendations for further research are discussed
